Identification of Coastal Conifers

LeafNeedle - Bundle 5 = White Pine / Pinus strobus
                       - Bundle 2 = Jack / Pinus banksiana (1", V bundle), Scots / Pinus sylvestris (1-2", 
                        twisted bundle, bluish), Austrian / Pinus nigra (3-6", needle bends), Red / Pinus
                        resinosa (4-6", needle breaks)

                       - Single - 4 sides = Sitka Spruce / Picea sitchensis
                       - Single - Flat - tail cone = Douglas Fir / Pseudotsuga menziesii
                                - lines (2) under leaf = Western Hemlock / Tsuga heterophylla
                                - red berries = Western Yew / Taxus brevifolia
                                - pair of flat leaves = Grand Fir / Abies grandis
                                - white on bark = Amabilis Fir / Abies amabilis

        : Scaly - no cone = Juniper
                    -  sharp leaf - cone (2") = Giant Sequoia / Sequoiadendron giganteum
                                        - cone (1") = Yellow Cedar / Chamaecyparis nootkatensis

                     - soft leaf    - cone (1") = Red Cedar / Thuja plicata
